Preparing Your Home to Sell for Top Dollar in Today’s Market

I love being a Realtor!  Yes, even in these crazy times. One of the best parts of my career is working with sellers.  It is so rewarding to earn the trust and confidence of our clients. A big part of earning that trust is communication and guidance through the selling process. Pricing the home correctly is key!  I’m not talking about under-pricing, I’m talking about pricing based on what the market says buyers are willing to pay for comparable properties.

Over the next week or so I will be writing a series of blogs to help you prepare your home to sell for top dollar in today’s market. This first installment of the series is going to cover possibly the most important one of all, your homes curb appeal! If you can’t get them past the curb you don’t have a chance to sell.

There are, of course, other important factors when it comes to selling.  One is based on the theory of “making a good first impression.”  After all, you “only get one chance to make a first impression.” So sellers, it’s critical that the exterior of your home is fresh and clean that the lawn is green and manicured, landscaping is trimmed and well kept, and landscape beds are freshly mulched. For only a few dollars you can go to your local garden store or Home Depot and pick up a flat or two of flowers to brighten up the front yard. Another simple fix which will get you a big bang for the buck is to freshen up your front door and trim with a new coat of shiny paint, knocking on a dirty door with cobwebs doesn’t give buyers the warm fuzzy feeling you are after. Excellent curb appeal will make buyers want to come in and see more!
